The artists that came to Medalta for the month in September put me to shame, there I said it. In all honesty, they are the most creative bunch I have seen thus far. That is not to take away from the other residents and even myself, but it is that they came in with such tenacity and creative energy . Their creativeness surprised me and it was also refreshing.
and of course Vipoo- http://vipoo.com/
And with September now passed- it is great to look back at what went on during that month
Pride Day volunteer work. Joshua and myself volunteered to demonstrate wheel thrown work and to also promote Medalta and it’s programs. Fun day but just a side note- little kids love to smash clay!
Alberta Art Days- Medalta set up a day full of events for the public to come out and celebrate art on the Alberta Art Days event. The resident artists helped out with: making wares for the Raku firing; Joshua and Aaron made great oven pizza’s; I helped made bricks the old fashion way; Talva’s Junior Facial Reconstruction class, amateur throwing competition, etc… It was a great day.
And we definitely cannot forget the residents of Medalta getting together and competing in a Spoon competition! Congrats to Hui Min for creating the winning spoon!
